Transportation Two other bus lines are accessible from the church location. The “24” runs two blocks behind the church. The “26” runs on Abbott Road outside the front of the church. The “1” and the “26” run frequently (every 10-15 minutes) during the university academic year until about 8 p.m. in the evening. After that, service, as one person has said, comes “when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars.” This is not an area where one can run their life on mass transit. Lansing Capital City Airport makes getting to and from Lansing a breeze, without the hassles and crowds of a large airport. Amtrak service to Chicago is available from East Lansing. An excellent freeway system makes these cities easily accessible as well as the Detroit/Ann Arbor metro area. Three major interstates and one U.S. highway serve the Lansing area including: I-96, I-69, I-496, and U.S. 127. One can get almost anywhere in lower Michigan in 1.5 hours by car, including Metro Detroit, and the international airport there, the Tri-Cities, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Jackson, Flint, Ann Arbor, and Battle Creek. The excellent freeway system makes these cities easily accessible as well as the Detroit/Ann Arbor metro area. Primarily, Lansing-area transportation is by personal vehicle.
