Come and Be Fed   Becoming a Member of All Saints

If you have been worshipping with us and are interested in becoming a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, there are three ways to unite with the church:

  • Transfer of membership from another Episcopal church.
  • From another denomination, by participating in an Episcopal confirmation service
  • Becoming baptized, if you have never been baptized before.

Twice a year, new members are welcomed into our community during a Sunday worship service. As part of the service, everyone renews the promises made at the time of baptism. New members are invited to come forward as part of the renewal of baptismal vows, and then are introduced to the congregation. The baptismal vows ask us to reaffirm our faith in a Triune God, as described in the Apostles’ Creed and in five questions:

  • Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers?
  • Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?
  • Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?
  • Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
  • Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?

To all these questions we answer, “I will, with God’s help.”

The congregation responds by promising their encouragement, support, and prayers for the newest members of our congregation. A special festive coffee hour provides an opportunity for the congregation to personally welcome our new members.
